Ireland

Honeymoon Couple in Ireland

If you’re coming to Ireland expecting leprechauns round the every corner and a wise old countryman gossiping with a pint of beer, you're in for quite a surprise! Whether it's the beauty of the countryside, the tasty brews, or something else entirely, the Irish are famous for their craic (pronounced crack), which means entertainment, great conversation and wonderful company all rolled up into one. Ireland's countryside is dubbed the “Emerald Isle” for a reason with its vibrant green landscapes. One of my favorite places to visit would be the Blarney Castle where we walked and climbed its many steps only to hang upside down and kiss the famous “Blarney Stone”. There is so many wonderful highlights of Ireland to not miss, and towns to visit. Ireland is full of castles and a wonderful opportunity to stay in one overnight.

If this is your first trip to Ireland I would recommend staying for about 5-7 days, longer if time will allow. If you are adventurous and don't mind driving I would do a trip from Dublin making your way from village to village by car and staying along the way in B&B’s adding a night in a Castle towards the end of your stay. You can either end your vacation in Shannon or circle back to Dublin. Getting to know the Innkeepers and listening to storytellers spin tales of the ancient and recent past while sampling the best beers, ales and whiskeys Ireland has to offer.

This vacation is wonderful for honeymooners, families, anniversaries or romance getaways. If you are a golfer this is a great way to experience one of the many wonderful golf courses Ireland has to offer. Another enticing way to see Ireland, is with an escorted vacation and leave the driving to someone else! Everything is planned out for you, your hotel, most meals are provided and the guide knows every important stop to make.

Italy

 Venice, Italy

Venice, Italy

Of all European countries, Italy is the one to which travelers return time and time again, their love affair blossoming with each trip. Discovering Italy can be a wonderful and unforgettable experience. Each corner of this beautiful country will take you back in time to ancient times and you will recognize its great development over the years.

There is something to offer for everyone from history to the beautiful and romantic countryside.  Florence where you will find David, the most famous statue of Michelangelo, and other important artworks recognized worldwide. My favorite was the bronze cast door at the Baptistery. Rome, the capital city full of life with its ancient, medieval city where lies the Forum and the Colosseum the world's largest surviving structure from the Roman antiquity. Here you will find Vatican City and if you are lucky maybe even a glimpse of the pope. As they say, "Rome wasn't built in a day" and neither can you experience it in a day. Venice, the romantic city built under water, with all of its canals and alley. What a wonderful place to get lost in. The shiny black gondola is they symbol of Venice that is propelled by a single oarsman, the gondolier who stands in the back of the back of the boat. A ride in a gondola is a great Venetian experience for many visitors. Italy truly has something for everyone.

Germany

 Joy near the Neuschwanstein Castle

Joy near the Neuschwanstein Castle

Prepare for a roller coaster of feasts, treats and temptations as you take in Germany's soul-stirring scenery, spirit-lifting culture, medieval towns, Castles, Castles and more Castles and black forest where hand carved cuckoo clocks became famous. Sample not only the famous beer but also world-class wines, most notably the noble Riesling.

We all know the story of Hitler and the Holocaust, but visiting Berlin, remnants of the Berlin Wall, left-overs of a bombed church tower still remain all reminders that in Germany the past is very much present, wherever you go. I loved driving along the Romantic Road to Nuremburg the town of children’s toys and gingerbread and later spending the rest of our day in the medieval town of Rothenberg with its cobblestone roads. It felt as if we were transported back into the 16th century. Here you can buy all your Christmas Ornaments which are beautiful and unique and have them sent back home. You cannot miss Germany without a visit to the magnificent Neuschwanstein Castle which inspired Walt Disney. It was a fairy tale dream come true!

If you are looking for the Oktoberfest, the passion play in Oberammergau, the Christmas Market or a Rhine River Cruise, Germany should defiantly be on your bucket list!

Paris

Bienvenue—Welcome to the City of Lights! Newlyweds love to travel to the City of Lights for the ultimate experience in sophistication and romance. From the quiet ambiance of fine dining establishments to the swoon-worthy sights, the capital of France was practically made for lovers! Some of the places to visit would be Notre Dame, a boat ride along the Seine River with its many beautiful bridges, lunch at the Eiffel Tower. You can’t leave Paris without a visit to the world’s most famous museum, The LOUVE, with its modern glass pyramid, to see Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and other treasures. This also makes a wonderful vacation for a proposal vacation, girlfriend’s getaway and a mother/daughter vacation.

Santorini

 Santorini

Santorini

Santorini is famous for its Blue and White domed churches and dramatic vistas located on the clifftop village of Oia. The views from on top of this clifftop were some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen with the crystal blue Mediterranean waters below. Santorini is known for some of the most breathtaking hotels overlooking the sea. This is ideal for honeymooners or for romance travelers looking for a dream come true vacation. A fun way to get around this island, no problem, just return to the town of Fira by hopping on donkey or enjoy the gorgeous view by cable car. The Greek Cuisine is also a great highlight on this vacation. Don’t forget to take home some local Greek wine or Olive Oil!
